Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

A structured, supportive mental health program for teens ages 13–18 in the Cincinnati area who need a higher level of care than traditional outpatient therapy

Group Therapy Session

What is a Partial Hospitalization Program?

Professional Psychiatric Services’ Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) provides intensive daytime mental health support for teens experiencing depression, anxiety, mood disorders, emotional dysregulation, or difficulty coping with everyday stressors.

PHP offers more structure and therapeutic support than traditional outpatient services while allowing adolescents to return home each evening.

Our program helps teens build practical coping skills, improve emotional regulation, strengthen relationships, and develop healthier ways to manage life’s challenges

We offer an in-person full-day PHP that runs 6 hours a day (9am-3pm), 5 days a week.

Who Can Benefit from PHP?

PHP may be beneficial for adolescents ages 13–18 in the Cincinnati and surrounding area who are experiencing:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Mood disorders

  • Emotional overwhelm

  • Difficulty coping with stress

  • Interpersonal or family challenges

  • School-related emotional struggles

  • Difficulty regulating emotions or behaviors

This program is designed for teens who need additional therapeutic support and skill-building in a structured environment. They will learn interpersonal effectiveness, emotional regulation, resiliency, distress tolerance, and mindfulness.

Can My Child Continue Individual Therapy?

In many cases, adolescents may continue individual therapy while participating in PHP if treatment goals are clinically appropriate and coordinated between providers. We encourage families to discuss participation with their current therapist to determine the best level of care for their child’s needs.
